Who am I?

I am someone who really doesn’t like talking about myself, but since I’m asking for your support it is only fair you know something about me.

I was born and raised in Greenville, South Carolina. I have lived all of the county to include N. Main area, Fountain Inn, Simpsonville, Taylors, and am now back within the city limits. I went to ten schools in twelve years, but maintained my grades and lettered in academia from Greenville Senior High School.

I joined the military in 2006 and spent over two years in Iraq. I finished my service honorably at the end of 2011 with many awards which include: ARCOMs, Combat Action Badge, Good Conduct Medal, among others. It was my time in service that opened my eyes to the reality of power. I am not proud of what was accomplished in Iraq and even less so for what wasn’t accomplished in Afghanistan. Not for any other fact than we didn’t help the people. We had the chance to really make a difference, but instead money and power went to maintain the monied and powerful. We lost soldiers, I lost friends, and I have to constantly ask myself, “For what?”.

I returned to Greenville and used my GI Bill at Greenville Tech before I transferred to the University of South Carolina where I receive my bachelor’s. I studied political science and minored in business administration. Instead of going to law school, I went into teaching. I have always wanted to help kids and even found time to volunteer with Big Brother’s Big Sister’s as well as with the Alston Wilkes Society. I still volunteer my time and hopefully will always have the means to continue to do so.

In 2019, I traveled to Panama to meet up with a friend that had finished his Peace Corps tour to join him in learning to scuba dive. While I was there I met my girlfriend who is from and lives in Germany. We both care deeply for animals, the environment, and the future. Climate change used to be our main worry, but with the rise of this current administration, we both have lost so much faith in our elected leaders ability to deal with this serious threat.

So, I’m here and I’m running for office because I believe our community deserves real representation. I believe our children should have a world-class education no matter what school they are in. I see firsthand how gerrymandering silences voices and gentrification limits where people can afford to live. I see how underfunded schools hold back our kids. That’s why I’ve spent my career working for “we the people” and now I want better representation for our society and more resources for our classrooms. We have the money, we just need to use it the right way.

As your representative, I’ll work tirelessly to end partisan redistricting, fully fund our schools, and ensure every family has a seat at the table. This campaign isn’t about me—it’s about us, and the future we can build together.
